Southern Highlands Reserve

Earth Day Outreach with Chestnut Hill of Highlands

SHR is pleased to welcome members of Chestnut Hill of Highlands residential retirement living to the Reserve in celebration of Earth Day 2019!

Earth Day was created in the spring of 1970 by Senator Gaylord Nelson to advance the issue of clean air, land and water on the national agenda. Twenty million Americans demonstrated in different U.S. cities, and it worked! In December 1970, Congress authorized the creation of a new federal agency to tackle environmental issues, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Americans mark this day each year  to underscore the importance of regulation to protect the environment, continue spreading awareness and celebrate a clean Earth, which we believe is worth celebrating every day.
