Red Spruce Restoration Hike
Join our Director, Kelly Holdbrooks, and NC Wildlife Resources Commission expert, Christine Kelly, on July 24th as they lead a guided hike in the Pisgah National Forest. This hike will take place at the Black Balsams and Flat Laurel Trail. The guides will cover the reason and process behind spruce-fir forest restoration, the plant, animal, and insect species that are impacted by restoration, and how restoration sites are selected and prepared. The hike will be less than 2 miles roundtrip and approximately 2 hours total. Cost will be $25 per person and transportation to the site is not provided.
