We are excited to announce that the Community Native Plant Sale is back at Southern Highlands Reserve this summer!
The sale will feature a unique selection of native plants that are not readily available from commercial nurseries. All plants will be regionally sourced and appropriate for high-elevation Southern Appalachian gardens, making them well-suited for our local climate and soils. Visitors can find native wildflowers, ferns, shrubs, and groundcovers. SHR staff and knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to help you choose the right plants for your space and to offer planting guidance.
Why It Matters
Native plants support local pollinators, birds, and other wildlife in ways that non-native ornamentals simply cannot. By growing native plants in home gardens, our community becomes part of a larger network of habitat — extending the conservation work of Southern Highlands Reserve beyond our property boundaries and into the broader landscape.
