Visitors Day
Held on select Tuesdays April through October, these tours are perfect for backyard gardeners, plant enthusiasts or professionals in the fields of horticulture, design, and ecology. Led by a garden tour docent, these tours are best suited for first-time guests. Entrance is $25 per person with a maximum of four per party.

Community Native Plant Sale
Friday, July 31, 2026
9:00AM – 1:00PM
The sale will feature a unique selection of native plants that are not readily available from commercial nurseries. All plants will be regionally sourced and appropriate for high-elevation Southern Appalachian gardens, making them well-suited for our local climate and soils. Visitors can find native wildflowers, ferns, shrubs, and groundcovers. SHR staff and knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to help you choose the right plants for your space and to offer planting guidance.
Please note that parking is limited and carpooling is appreciated!
Group Tours
Private group tours by appointment offer a curated garden experience. Priced at $50/person with a $500 minimum, these tours provide a personalized journey through the garden and a behind-the-scenes tour of the greenhouse facility. Access to nature is important, and SHR is committed to creating those opportunities.

Nature Sketchbook Journaling Workshops

Southern Highlands Reserve is partnering with a local artist to offer two Nature Sketchbook Journaling workshops this fall. Participants will explore ways of recording the natural world through botanical details and landscape sketches, with the unique opportunity to work in the beautiful garden setting of the Reserve.
These workshops are open to all skill levels.
