Current Positions
Gardener
SHR is currently seeking a full-time gardener. This position will support the Gardens Manager in the maintenance and development of the gardens, applying best practices in horticultural techniques to a wide variety of plant materials to ensure they are maintained to the highest horticulture standards. This individual will monitor, manage, and maintain garden areas including new installations, weeding, watering, pruning, grooming, composting, mulching, identifying problems and treating them.

Seasonal Gardener
SHR is currently seeking seasonal gardeners. This position will support the Gardens Manager in the maintenance and development of the gardens on a flexible schedule during the growing season, March through November. This individual will monitor, manage, and maintain garden areas including new installations, weeding, watering, pruning, grooming, composting, mulching, identifying problems and treating them.

Conservation Horticulturist
SHR is currently seeking a conservation horticulturist. This position plays a central role in the cultivation, documentation, and long-term stewardship of the Reserve’s living collections. It blends hands-on horticulture with conservation science, supporting initiatives such as rare plant propagation, ecological restoration, and collaborative research projects. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable working in the field, in the greenhouse, and alongside partners in the conservation community.
